The albums will join the library of hundreds of educational games, eBooks, videos, music and more that have been reviewed and approved by LeapFrog’s highly experienced team of learning experts to be part of the LeapFrog App Center.

The “Artist Corner”: Storm Trooper Donald

Storm Trooper Donald Duck: by D-Team Jamey Wright

Hey D-Heads™, D-Team Jamey Wright here. With the recent news posted here on the site I thought I would draw up some fun for you all from The Artists Corner

Storm Trooper Donald is ready for the CHALLENGE with the merge of the Walt Disney Company and Lucas Films ltd.

Nothing will get in his way!

Walt Disney Company Buys Lucasfilm Ltd, with Star Wars: Episode 7 to come in 2015 for $4.05 Billion

Disney Aquires Lucasfilm Ltd.

Hey D-Heads, those of us know a partnership with Disney can only lead to great things and now in a bold, yet smart move, The Walt disney Company has aquired Lucasfilm Ltd. in a stock and cash transaction.

Lucasfilm is 100% Owned by George Lucas himself, so this seems like a smart and strategic move on his part to keep the Star Wars Universe alive. Under the terms, it is set to be valued at $4.05 Billion with the Walt Disney Company paying out about half of that in cash and the rest in stocks, about 40 million shares.

I personally feel this is a great move to join forces with a partnership that already is full of family entertainment and will continue to grow both the Disney Company and the Star Wars Brands.

“For the past 35 years, one of my greatest pleasures has been to see Star Wars passed from one generation to the next,” said George Lucas, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Lucasfilm. “It’s now time for me to pass Star Wars on to a new generation of filmmakers. I’ve always believed that Star Wars could live beyond me, and I thought it was important to set up the transition during my lifetime. I’m confident that with Lucasfilm under the leadership of Kathleen Kennedy, and having a new home within the Disney organization, Star Wars will certainly live on and flourish for many generations to come. Disney’s reach and experience give Lucasfilm the opportunity to blaze new trails in film, television, interactive media, theme parks, live entertainment, and consumer products.”

Star Wars as part of Lucasfilm Ltd.

“Lucasfilm reflects the extraordinary passion, vision, and storytelling of its founder, George Lucas,” said Robert A. Iger, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of The Walt Disney Company. “This transaction combines a world-class portfolio of content including Star Wars, one of the greatest family entertainment franchises of all time, with Disney’s unique and unparalleled creativity across multiple platforms, businesses, and markets to generate sustained growth and drive significant long-term value.”

With the new acquired franchise Disney will take over Ownership of Lucasfilm Ltd. and all of its Star Wars Franchise, Operating Businesses, and Technology currently developed and under development. The Lucasfilm Headquarters will remain in its current location in San Franciso, California along with all its other locations to remain in tact as well such as LucasArts, Industrial Light & Magic, and Skywalker Sound. All of its current employees will remain at their locations and positions.

The biggest change will come as Kathleen Kennedy, Co-Chairman of Lucasfilm Ltd., will take over as President with George stepping down but remaining as Creative Consultant to the Disney Company for future projects, and the direction of the Star Wars Universe. A very smart movie might I add.

Kennedy will serve as executive producer on new Star Wars feature films, with George Lucas serving as creative consultant. And if that wasn’t enough, Star Wars Episode 7 is targeted for release in 2015, with more films to follow in later years to continue the Universe and Brand of Star Wars.

George Lucas to remain as Creative Consultant for Disney

This is a smart move on Disney’s part and in recent years we have seen such great partnerships in acquisitions such as these with Pixar Animation Studios and more recently with Marvel. This will great expand Disney’s Universe, continue the legacy of George Lucas long after he is gone and also keep High End Quality Entertainment coming for Generations of Children.

With Disney’s Star Wars Weekends always a top hit and widely popular, the relaunch of the re-envisioned Star Tours and with Indy in the parks, it is a smart bold move one which I completely agree with.

I firmly believe that the development of ‘trans-media’ properties is essential to meet the entertainment needs of today’s family.”

Theme Park Connection Selling Replica Disneyland Haunted Mansion Home

October 29, 2012 Disney News No Comments

Theme Park Connection: Selling 10,000 Sq Ft. Haunted Mansion Replica

Just in time for Halloween, a distinct Georgia home is being sold by Theme Park Connection, the “World’s Largest Disney Pawn Shop.”
Theme Park Connection is selling the more than just a 10,000-square-foot replica of Disneyland’s Haunted Mansion that features bizarre noises, lightning crashes and “ghosts.” Theme Park Connection specializes in buying and selling some of the rarest Disney items, including props, signs and memorabilia.

The home is located in a gated community, the seven-bedroom and six-bath home has hosted two weddings and numerous parties. The owner designed his home in 1996 with dimensions and architectural structure to match Disneyland’s Haunted Mansion. The owner used the same foundry that Walt Disney used for the real attraction for the iron in his home. The home has an authentic welcome plaque at the gate entrance with the iconic four white pillars and the four faux smokestacks, which match the Disneyland Haunted Mansion to a tee. Although the Duluth mansion does not have its own internal buggy ride, this is the world’s only known home built and modeled after a Disney attraction.

Flickering lights and outside elements add to the uniqueness of the replica home’s exterior. The owner of the home says the house is is not actually haunted as he has lived there with his wife and son for many years. Unique interior design elements include an animated bathroom hitchhiking ghost scene.

“This definitely is the most unique Disney item we have ever offered for sale,” said Marc Pianko, CEO of Theme Park Connection. “We sell unique Disney items like ride vehicles, attraction props and signs. This home would be a dream come true for any Disney collector and Theme Park Connection is thrilled to sell this Haunted Mansion replica.”

Theme Park Connection

Theme Park Connection’s, Florida-based, 8,000-square-foot warehouse is the only retail showroom of Disney items that is open to the public. Pricing and more information can be found on Theme Park Connection’s website, http://www.themeparkconnection.com, the MLS listing. Only real estate agents, media and pre-qualified individuals will be able to view the home; there will be no public tours offered.

Be sure to find out more at their official website at: www.ThemeParkConnection.com

It’s Friday. Make it Disney Freaky

So Friday has arrived. And since it is Halloween Season, make today a Freaky Friday. Yes, I thought I would just relive one of the Disney Family Classics with you this morning.

This film, and style of story has been done so many times over the years. Swop places with your parents and see just what it is really like to be each other.

“The film is based on the novel of the same name by Mary Rodgers, in which mother and daughter switch bodies and get a taste of each other’s lives. The cause of the switch is left unexplained in this film, but occurs one Friday the 13th, when Mrs. Andrews and Annabel, in different places, say about each other at the same time “I wish I could switch places with her for just one day.” Rodgers adds a waterskiing subplot to her screenplay. The cast also includes John Astin, Ruth Buzzi, Dick Van Patten, and Charlene Tilton.” (wiki)

The 1976 Walt Disney Pictures Classic Freaky Friday

The film was fun, and family friendly and continued that tradition of Disney flair. In 2003 it was remade with Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan and updated the story line just a bit. IT continued that Disney tradition of great story telling and fun and upheld the light hearted hijinx of the original.

So it may not be news, but hey, go and enjoy a 1976 classic Disney Film, wether that is listening to it in our Lifetime of Disney player on the site while you work, or show it to your kids tonight. There are Magic in the Memories.
