What is a Takeover?

Acronyms and terminology are key to a Disney vacation. We all know that ADR means “Advanced Dining Reservation” and EMH means “Extra Magic Hours”. A term you may be less familiar with is “Take Over”. This term is used mainly between Disney and travel agencies, so you may be less familiar with it. It seems like a scary word, but when you break it down and understand it, it can actually be quite rewarding!

• Definition of a takeover: A simple form that requires your name, reservation information and signature to authorize an agency/agent to “take over” your reservation.
• Why to do a takeover: There may be a moment after you’ve already booked your reservation that you realize you may be in over your head. If the thought of price checking, dining reservations, touring plans, etc is overwhelming you, don’t worry; it’s not too late to ask an agent for help!
• Who is eligible for a takeover: Anyone with an existing reservation booked directly with Walt Disney World.
• How much does it cost?: NOTHING! Agents are paid through Disney and should never ask for a cent from you. Once you sign on an agent you have your very own vacation planning assistant. An agent should be able to help you as much or as little as you want.
