MyMagic+ Debut at Walt Disney World

MyMagic+ Debut at Walt Disney World

Obviously, there have been advances in technology coming to the Walt Disney World parks and resorts. Rumors have been circling for years about Disney creating an “X-Pass” sort of program, which is in use at Universal Studios. X-Pass allows you to purchase a pass that gives you priority lines for the popular attractions.

Before people became too enraptured in the rumor mill Disney announced its intentions for FastPass+ which would be an updated, more technologically advanced version of the already instituted FastPass system.
Instead of obtaining a paper ticket for the attraction guests would be able to select certain attractions and shows from home and add them to their itinerary. This would allow families to stick together in the parks as opposed to rolling in SWAT style, park commando, ready to divide and conquer to maximize their dime.

Disney is all about enhancing the guest experience and the purpose of FastPass+, MyMagic+ and My Disney Experience is to do just that. These technological components are planned to work together to make the entire vacation planning process easy, seamless and magical.

The next step is the Magic Band, which is a wrist band that contains guest information through RFID. The bracelet will serve as your room key, charging privileges, theme park admission, dining plan, PhotoPass+ and reservation information. Think of it as your Key to the World Card, on your wrist. Guests will be able to choose a 4 digit pin code to enable “tap to pay” technology, which will allow you to pay for merchandise and beverages at select locations by just tapping your wrist on the RFID reader.

The Magic Band has been receiving positive feedback after recent testing but will change and evolve over time as more guest feedback is obtained and the information is put to use. Various components of MyMagic+ will be rolled out over the next few months.
