Cate Blanchett in Talks to play Cinderella’s Evil Step Mother

Disney has been hot on the trail working on some of their classics becoming big screen live action adaptions. From films coming like Maleficent, there are some great ones in the works including the newest adaption of the Disney Masterpiece Cinderella.

The idea kicked off in 2010 with success of Alice in Wonderland from Tim Burton and since has gained much steam. The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that Cate Blanchett is in negotiations to become the Evil Stepmother in the re-envisioned Cinderella.

The film will be directed by Mark Romanek, and the screenplay was created by Chris Weitz who previously penned ‘About a Boy.’ The executive producer on the project is currently Simon Kinberg of the X-Men Trilogy.

Cate Blanchett was in talks to play the Evil Witch in an adaption of Snow White but the project never was green lit to become a reality. We recently spoke to Susanne Blakeslee who plays the Evil Stepmother in Cinderella II & III on DVD (Listen to that Show by Clicking Here).

We are excited for this film and once the Hobbit hits the screens and we see her there once again, it would be nice to see her play the Evil one in Cinderella.
