Disney's Animal Kingdom

Disney’s Animal Kingdom

If you’ve never considered Animal Kingdom to be a full day park, you may soon be changing your mind. With new attractions, shows, and an evening spectacular in the works, Animal Kingdom is finally getting the makeover it’s needed for so long.

1. Winged Encounters: The Kingdom Takes Flight. This new experience, starring colorful McCaws, is produced by the Disney Creative Entertainment group and the Flights of Wonder team. It’s sure to be an amazingly educational show, highlighting the beautiful and endangered birds. We can’t wait to learn more!
2. The Festival of the Lion King. After a long hiatus, The Festival of the Lion King live show will be welcomed into its brand new theater on June 7th. We’re sure we’re not the only ones who have been missing this phenomenal production during its absence, so be sure to stop by and enjoy it once again on your next trip to Disney.
3. Avatarland. While it’s a divisive topic among Disney fans, you can’t deny that Animal Kingdom needs more attractions, and that’s one thing Avatarland guarantees to bring to the park. Whether you agree with the decision to welcome Avatar into the Disney Parks family or not, it will be nice to see the added experiences, top-notch technology, and special effects the Imagineers are employing to bring Pandora to life.
4. Rivers of Light Nighttime Spectacular. Animal Kingdom is finally getting a nighttime show! While we understand that fireworks have never been an option due to the presence of many live animals in the park, we can’t deny that we’ve been pining for Disney to come up with another option for years. Soon, we’ll get the pleasure of experiencing an evening spectacular like none other. With water screen projection technology, beautiful animal imagery, live music, and floating lanterns, Rivers of Light sounds like an instant classic.
Next time you venture to Walt Disney World, keep these updates in mind, and you just might find yourself enjoying Animal Kingdom for longer than a half day!
