Star Wars: The Force Awakens Original Motion Picture Soundtrack From Oscar®-Winning Composer John Williams Debuts At No. 5 On The Billboard 200 Chart

Star Wars: The Force Awakens Original Motion Picture Soundtrack From Oscar®-Winning Composer John Williams

Star Wars: The Force Awakens Original Motion Picture Soundtrack From Oscar®-Winning Composer John Williams

The original motion picture soundtrack for the record-breaking Star Wars: The Force Awakens, featuring new score conducted and composed by five-time Academy Award®-winning composer John Williams, has entered the Billboard 200 chart at No. 5, scanning over 100,000 equivalent album units in its first week of release, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The last and only all-score soundtrack to debut in the Top 5 was Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace in 1999.

The album is No. 1 on Billboard’s Soundtrack and Overall Classical Charts; at iTunes, peaked at No. 1 on the Soundtrack chart and No. 3 on the Overall Album chart; and at Amazon, the album is No. 1 on the Soundtrack chart and No. 2 on the Overall Digital Album chart.  Additionally, the album has over 10.3M streams on Spotify.

From Lucasfilm and visionary director J.J. Abrams, Star Wars: The Force Awakens has broken numerous box office records, most recently becoming the fastest film to reach $1 billion globally, a feat it accomplished in 12 days with over $540 million domestically and $550 million internationally. It posted the biggest debut in industry history with $248 million domestically and $529 million globally in its first weekend, as well as the biggest second weekend of all time domestically with $149.2 million.

Oscar®-winning composer John Williams’ ubiquitous Star Wars “Main Title” theme has become part of popular culture since it was first heard accompanying Star Wars: A New Hope in 1977.  It is no surprise that Williams’ orchestral compositions for Star Wars are among the most beloved and recognizable themes in cinematic history, from the classic “Main Title” theme introduced in Star Wars: A New Hope to the ominous “Imperial March” from Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back to the stirring “Duel of the Fates” from the prequel trilogy.

After creating the scores for all six of the previous Star Wars films, Williams returns to compose and conduct his signature sweeping music for The Force Awakens.

Williams, whose career spans over six decades, has won five Academy Awards® and he has scored some of the most popular and critically acclaimed films of all time, including Jaws, the Indiana Jones franchise, the first three Harry Potter films, E.T. The Extra Terrestrial, Lincoln, Schindler’s List, and countless others.

‘Monorails: Trains of the Future-Now Arriving,’ a Hardbound, Comprehensive Rail Book like No Other

'Monorails: Trains of the Future-Now Arriving,' a Hardbound, Comprehensive Rail Book like No Other

‘Monorails: Trains of the Future-Now Arriving,’ a Hardbound, Comprehensive Rail Book like No Other

When many people hear the word MONORAIL, a theme park ride may come to mind, or even a silly cartoon. Despite those perceptions, each day monorails safely and efficiently carry hundreds of thousands of passengers in non-entertainment transit applications. ‘Monorails: Trains of the Future-Now Arriving’ delves into the topic, more than any other book has to date.

There are thousands of books dedicated to rail, mostly about so-called ‘conventional’ two-rail systems. Now there’s a comprehensive, encyclopedic-like book dedicated to monorails. Positive reviews are coming from the book’s first buyers. B. Leabow states “I can see all the time put into producing such a great book and history of Monorail transportation. The hard cover, quality of the pages, along with the expert layout is better than that of many railfan books.” After receiving his copy, long-time railfan J. Horecka said, “The author has produced something wonderful here. I totally dig the fantastic photographs throughout.”

‘Monorails: Trains of the Future-Now Arriving’ begins with a primer on what monorail is, along with some compelling advantages. Monorail’s rich and long history is next, along with a chapter of amazing monorails that were once proposed or planned, yet never built. The heart of the 248-page book follows with an eye-opening, two-chapter list of the world’s transit monorails. Gorgeous color photography captures monorail in a wide variety of environments, along with descriptions and data. The book ends with chapters on how monorail is constructed, the monorailists that promote them, and speculations on the future of monorail. ‘Monorails: Trains of the Future-Now Arriving’ is the first hardbound book of its kind and is a must-have for anyone interested in rail or rail transit, young or old. Author Pedersen believes libraries will adopt the book as the preferred reference book on the topic.

‘Monorails: Trains of the Future-Now Arriving’ by Kim A Pedersen is available for purchase through The Monorail Society Store, Amazon.com and eBay.com.

VELUX Group and Disney Join Forces in Star Wars Collaboration for Children’s Room

VELUX Group and Disney Join Forces in Star Wars Collaboration for Children’s Room

VELUX Group and Disney Join Forces in Star Wars Collaboration for Children’s Room

December 2015, a new chapter adds to the Star Wars universe with the world premiere of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens”. The launch of the film not only brings a seventh chapter to the epic saga; it also takes the existing collaboration between Disney and the VELUX Group, the world’s largest manufacturer of roof windows and accessories, to a new galaxy. The “Star Wars & VELUX Galactic Night Collection” offers four galactic blackout blinds designed especially for children’s rooms to stimulate rest and creativity, which are vital for future generations and at the core of the VELUX Group.

The VELUX Group was founded in 1941 with a vision to bring light and fresh air to modern homes. 74 years and millions of roof windows later, the company is today a market leader with an ongoing ambition to shape spaces supporting individual needs for daylight in every room of the house. And this includes children’s rooms, which today have changed focus from being bedrooms to playrooms and as such call for increased creativity and functionality when decorating.

VELUX Group and Disney Join Forces in Star Wars Collaboration for Children’s Room

In 2014, the high involvement in children’s rooms led the VELUX Group to a playful and powerful collaboration with Disney featuring some of the most beloved Disney characters. Now the time has come to widen the scope and cater for the imagination of even more children with a Star Wars-themed blinds collection. The “Star Wars & VELUX Galactic Nights Collection” is inspired by Star Wars:“The Force Awakens” and features four brand new fabulous designs designed exclusively by the VELUX Group in close alignment with Disney.

On demand design

As market leader, the VELUX Group insists on being innovative and agenda setting whenever new products are developed and launched. Not only in terms of functionality and quality but also relevance. Several studies point at sleep as a vital factor in the healthy home and this has led to an increased demand for blackout blinds to suit all ages. With this in mind, the VELUX Group is happy to present the “Star Wars & VELUX Galactic Night Collection”, a collection, which expands the VELUX kids’ selection while linking the company to one of the world’s most epic universes; Star Wars. Kent Holm, Vice President of Global Product Management at the VELUX Group explains:

“When the VELUX Group engages in design collaborations, we aim to push the boundaries in the market and provide the consumers with ideal solutions for the entire household. Looking to the enormous power and popularity of Star Wars, we found the perfect collaboration for developing new products aimed at kids and preteens, who are old enough to be decision makers in their own room without compromising on the functionality and quality their parents expect. With the “Star Wars & VELUX Galactic Night Collection” we aim to inspire epic play battles between good and bad during daytime while guaranteeing total blackout of light which is essential for a good night’s sleep”.

Star Wars & VELUX Galactic Night Collection” is an opportunity for both children and their parents to engage in a high benefit product, since the Star Wars universe has devoted fans at all ages and offers a unique community of massive universal popularity.

Collection from another galaxy to the modern playroom

Star Wars is set in a galaxy far, far away. The “Star Wars & VELUX Galactic Night Collection”, on the other hand, is designed especially for modern playrooms with individuality in mind.

The collection comprises four Star Wars designs, two depicting classic characters and universes, “Darth Vader” and “The Death Star”, and two inspired by The Force Awakens, “Kylo Ren” and “Robots”. Every design brings the characters to life on a “poster design” in full roof window size. Whether you are the hero or the dark force, the total blackout blinds give you full control of light allowed into the room during daytime and nighttime.

The collection also offers a perfect plug-and-play solution, which is easy to install thanks to the VELUX Pick&Click!™ technology.

The “Star Wars & VELUX Galactic Night Collection” is up for pre-order from December 2015 at www.velux.com

Beginning with this week’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens directed by J.J. Abrams, Deluxe’s Stereo D, Hollywood’s leading producer of 3D for feature films, has been commissioned by Lucasfilm and The Walt Disney Studios to create the stereoscopic editions for three upcoming releases in the iconic Star Wars franchise. The other two titles are Rogue One directed by Gareth Edwards and releasing on December 16, 2016, and Star Wars: Episode VIII, directed by Rian Johnson and releasing on May 26, 2017.
