Disney’s “Descendants” Soundtrack Available On Walt Disney Records July 31

Walt Disney Records will release the soundtrack for Disney’s “Descendants” on Friday, July 31, the day the eagerly-anticipated movie premieres on Disney Channel (8:00 p.m. ET/PT).  The soundtrack pre-order is available now HERE.  It features the single “Believe,” performed and written by 16 year-old recording artist Shawn Mendes (Island Records) and original songs performed by the “Descendants” cast, plus bonus tracks and a score suite.

On Tuesday, June 16, Shawn Mendes’ “Believe” single will be available as a song purchase or free with the purchase of the “Descendants” soundtrack at select digital retailers.  The song will premiere in the U.S. and Canada, Monday, June 15 (4:00 p.m., PT) on Radio Disney.

Disney’s “Descendants” stars Dove Cameron, Cameron Boyce, Booboo Stewart and Sofia Carson as the teenage sons and daughters of Disney’s most infamous villains.  With a knowing wink at traditional fairy tales, the live-action movie fuses castles with classrooms to create a contemporary, music-driven story about the challenges in living up to parental and peer expectations. The notable cast also includes Mitchell Hope, Wendy Raquel Robinson, Maz Jobrani, Kathy Najimy and the Tony Award-winning Kristin Chenoweth.  Emmy Award-winning Kenny Ortega (“High School Musical”) directs, choreographs and executive-produces Disney’s “Descendants.”

The movie’s soundtrack showcases a broad range of music — from the opening number, a pulsating electronic dance song “Rotten to the Core,” and the percussion dance number “Did I Mention?” written by Grammy® and Emmy® Award winner Adam Schlesinger, to the stirring ballad “If Only” written by Adam Anders (“Glee”) and performed by Dove Cameron, and the finale anthem “Set It Off.”  It also features a hip-hop a capella take on “Be Our Guest” (from Disney’s “Beauty & the Beast”) and the showstopper, a comedic Broadway-esque tune “Evil Like Me” written by Tony® Award nominee Andrew Lippa (Broadway’s “The Addams Family,” “The Wild Party”) and performed by “Descendants” stars Kristin Chenoweth and Dove Cameron.  A bonus track reprises “Rotten to the Core” performed by the movie’s Sofia Carson.

Disney’s “Descendants” marks another connection between Disney and Shawn Mendes who last year was named Radio Disney’s “Next Big Thing” and thrilled audiences with his performances at the 2015 Radio Disney Music Awards and the Radio Disney Family VIP Birthday on Disney Channel.  His debut album, Handwritten (April 2015) entered the Billboard 200 chart at No.1.  This summer, he will perform on select dates of Taylor Swift’s North American stadium concert, The 1989 World Tour.

Disney’s “Descendants” track list:

The Edison to Open in 2016 at Disney Springs, at Walt Disney World Resort

Patina Restaurant Group and Kinetescape’s Andrew Meieran announce that they will open The Edison, a lavish “Industrial Gothic” -style restaurant, bar and nighttime destination at the new Disney Springs at Walt Disney World Resort. Famous for exceptionally good classic American food, craft cocktails and live entertainment including cabaret and music, The Edison is inspired by its sister location in Los Angeles and set in a historic power plant.

The Edison is dedicated to a resurgence of old world-style sophistication and romance. The Florida venue will be themed to a 1920s-period electric company and recall an exuberant era of invention and imagination. Featuring 35-foot ceilings and a range of themed areas to explore, The Edison will have The Lab performance space, The Ember Parlour, Telegraph Lounge, The Patent Office, The Tesla Lounge, The Radio Room, Waterfront Patio and more. Entertainment will include contortionists, palm readers, DJs and more. Andrew Meieran’s vision and designs will be executed by Gensler Architects.

The Edison joins a growing family of new additions to Downtown Disney. Downtown Disney is currently undergoing the largest expansion in its history, to be renamed and re-imagined as Disney Springs, an exciting new waterfront district for shopping, dining and entertainment. The Landing, one of four neighborhoods planned for Disney Springs, will welcome The Edison in 2016.

“We are delighted to bring this extraordinary destination to the new Disney Springs,” said Nick Valenti, restaurateur and CEO of Patina Restaurant Group.

For dining reservations and more information about The Edison, guests will be able to visit https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/dining in the future.

Walt Disney Records Set To Release “Inside Out” Original Motion Picture Soundtrack With Score Composed By Michael Giacchino

Walt Disney Records Set To Release "Inside Out" Original Motion Picture Soundtrack With Score Composed By Michael Giacchino

Walt Disney Records Set To Release “Inside Out” Original Motion Picture Soundtrack With Score Composed By Michael Giacchino

Disney•Pixar’s “Inside Out” features an original score that captures the emotional spirit of the story by award-winning composer Michael Giacchino. The soundtrack will be released by Walt Disney Records on June 16, 2015. Directed by Academy Award® winner Pete Docter (“Monsters, Inc.”, “Up”) and produced by Jonas Rivera, p.g.a. (“Up”), Disney•Pixar’s “Inside Out” opens in U.S. theaters on June 19, 2015.

Giacchino worked with director Pete Docter on “Up” (garnering an Academy Award® for best original score) and also counts Disney•Pixar’s films “Cars 2,” “Ratatouille” and “The Incredibles” among his credits. But, says the composer, “Inside Out” was different. “Pete [Docter] wanted the music to feel as if it was coming from the inside—from internal thoughts,” says Giacchino. “We were going for something atmospheric. Something that wasn’t traditional film score.”

According to the composer, the goal of the music mirrored the goal of the film. “It had to feel emotional,” says Giacchino. “I wasn’t sure how I wanted it to sound, but I knew how I wanted it to feel. This film is personal.”

The score was recorded with a 70-piece orchestra with an organ and a rhythm section that consisted of guitars and a drummer.

“I had a lot of fun writing the music,” continues Giacchino. “There’s a 1930s jazzy section we wrote for the Forgetters, and we channel classic horror in the Subconscious. The film really goes all over the map musically, but what I love most about it is that we never forgot that it’s an emotional story that’s being told.”

“Inside Out” is preceded by the short “LAVA” from Pixar Animation Studios, director James Ford Murphy and producer Andrea Warren. Inspired by the isolated beauty of tropical islands and the explosive allure of ocean volcanoes, “LAVA” is a musical love story that takes place over millions of years. The short features the theme performed by Kuana Torres Kahele (Uku & Narrator) and Napua Greig (Lele).  The “Lava” score will be available at digital retail on June 16, 2015.

This summer, in addition to Pete Docter’s “Inside Out” from Disney•Pixar, Giacchino has two other major films hitting theaters: “Tomorrowland,” directed by Brad Bird and Universal’s “Jurassic World,” directed by Colin Trevorrow.

The Inside Out original motion picture soundtrack will be available wherever music is sold on June 16, 2015. The album is now available for pre-order at iTunes (http://smarturl.it/iosa1) and Amazon.com (http://smarturl.it/iosama1).

Bleacher Creatures To Release Larger-Than-Life Plush Figure of Marvel’s Smaller-Than-Life Super Hero, Ant-Man

Bleacher Creatures To Release Larger-Than-Life Plush Figure of Marvel’s Smaller-Than-Life Super Hero, Ant-Man

Bleacher Creatures To Release Larger-Than-Life Plush Figure of Marvel’s Smaller-Than-Life Super Hero, Ant-Man

If great things come in small packages, great Super Heroes can come in tiny form: Ant-Man, the smallest Super Hero in the Marvel universe, will make his feature-film debut on July 17—and Bleacher Creatures, the innovative licensing manufacturer, will have Ant-Man’s larger-than-life plush counterpart ready to greet him. At ten inches in height, the plush is 20 times taller than Ant-Man himself (while possessing a somewhat different skill set).

The Marvel’s Ant-Man plush will be available for pre-order on the Bleacher Creatures website (http://www.bleachercreatures.com) on June 1, and will debut in stores on June 17.

Marvel’s Ant-Man stars Paul Rudd as a con man who finds his inner Super Hero when he dons a suit that enables him to shrink in size but increase his strength.

Bleacher Creatures produces incredibly true-to life plush figures of some of the greatest sports and entertainment icons of all time. Their line of plush figures based on Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron include Iron Man, Thor, Black Widow, Hawkeye, Nick Fury, and Captain America.

“We’re very excited to be working with the creative geniuses at Marvel as we transform Ant-Man into a charming yet faithful plush figure,” says Matthew Hoffman, founder and president of Bleacher Creatures. “Having created plush figures of sports icons, we’re used to producing remarkably faithful miniature versions of real-life heroes. With Marvel’s Ant-Man, we’re delighted to produce our first plush that celebrates an oversized version of a miniature Super Hero!”
