AT&T And Disney Bring Storytelling Magic On Demand

Story time just got a little more magical for AT&T* U-verse® customers. Families have downloaded more than 8 million digital books through the Disney Story Central app, and AT&T U-verse and Disney are now bringing the popular Disney Story Central platform to TV screens across the country for the first time. As a subscription-based on demand service, Disney Story Central offers all AT&T U-verse TV customers a robust collection of narrated classic Disney stories for $8 per month.

Parents and their children can read along with beloved Disney characters including Mickey Mouse, Elsa, Anna and Olaf on their TV screens. New stories will be added to the platform every few months.

“We’re excited to bring customers and their families interactive experiences that foster creativity and imagination,” said Mel Coker, chief marketing officer, AT&T Home Solutions. “Disney Story Central allows families another way to enjoy U-verse TV together.”

AT&T U-verse customers already have access to great live and on demand programming from Disney Channel, Disney Junior and Disney XD.  They can view it on their U-verse TVs and through the U-verse App. Along with Disney content, the U-verse App lets customers watch more than 230 live channels inside their home and more than 170 channels on the go – more than any cable TV provider.

“We are always looking for new and innovative ways for our consumers to enjoy Disney storytelling,” said Andrew Sugerman, executive vice president, Disney Publishing Worldwide. “Expanding the Disney Story Central platform onto AT&T U-verse TV is another way to connect families with the Disney stories they know and love.”

Disney Cruise Line Dreams a Little Bigger with Enhancements to the Disney Dream This Fall

Exciting new experiences await Disney Dream guests after spaces throughout theDisney Cruise Line vessel are transformed this fall. Headlining the enhancements are two new interactive youth areas, one themed to Star Wars and another to Disney Infinity. Also a whimsical sweet shop serving handmade gelato and the ever-popular Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique will debut after the Disney Dream undergoes dry dock Oct. 4-24, 2015, in Freeport, Bahamas.

Here is a glimpse at what is in store for guests of all ages:

Star Wars Area Brings Force-filled Fun for Children

A newly themed area in Disney’s Oceaneer Club, open to ages three to 12, will delight children with an out-of-this-galaxy experience inspired by the Star Wars saga.

Kids will be transported to a far away galaxy at Star Wars: Millennium Falcon, a Force-filled play area inspired by the spacecraft from the legendary saga. Upon entering the spaceship, younglings will join the Rebel Alliance in the epic battle of good versus evil by assisting with the navigation of this powerful space vehicle. Sitting in the cockpit, children can pilot this super-cool spaceship through hyperspace and trigger lightspeed jumps to different locations around the galaxy.

In Millennium Falcon, children can express their creativity through Star Wars-themed crafts, games and activities. They can also watch episodes from the new Disney XD animated series, “Star Wars Rebels,” on a large screen or virtually join the rebellion at gaming stations featuring the series’ action-packed adventures.

The excitement continues during a shipboard version of the popular Jedi Training Academy experience that invites young Jedi hopefuls –known as “Padawans” –to learn lightsaber moves from a Jedi Master. They can then use the Force and face off in a final test against the evil Darth Vader.

High-Tech Disney Infinity Space Adds Adventure for Kids

Also in the Oceaneer Club,a high-tech interactive space based on the Disney Infinity video game offers more fun for kids.

In the Disney Infinity Toy Box area, children can experience a whole new way of playing together with exciting virtual experiences and immersive activities. Customized, on-screen adventures will bring to life characters and stories from across The Walt Disney Company.

The complete set of Disney Infinity character figures will be on display for creative inspiration and available for gameplay. Kids visiting this special room–found only on the Disney Dream – will be able to unlock exclusive Disney Cruise Line content that they can continue to enjoy when playing Disney Infinity at home.

Special activities will bring the virtual gameplay experience to life in the real world. For example, a life-sized Disney Infinity Base sets the stage where children take the place of character figures for a group gaming experience unlike any other. Lighting up in response to gameplay on a large screen, this interactive floor will allow kids to be immersed in the Toy Box.

Specialty Sweet Shop for Families

Vanellope’s Sweets & Treats will satisfy the sweet tooth of cruisers of all ages, with handmade gelato and ice cream, an assortment of candy, and delectable novelty treats for purchase. New to Deck 11, the smell of freshly baked waffle cones and candy will linger from the specialty store’s two entrances, inside Cabana’s restaurant and outside by the pool deck.

Resembling the whimsical candy land of the Sugar Rush race car game in “Wreck-It Ralph,” the sweet shop’s decor features nods to the film, including a race track and checkerboard patterned floor, gas pump-style gumball dispensers, Vanellope’s race car and King Candy’s throne.

Magical Makeover Salon for Princesses and Pirates

Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, coming to Deck 5 midship, will bring to life the storybook fantasies of young guests with pixie-dusted and piratical makeovers. This very special salon will offer aspiring princesses and knights ages three to 12 the chance to transform into royalty with the help of a fairy godmother-in-training. On pirate party night this boutique becomes The Pirates League where swashbuckling pirates of all ages will have the opportunity to unleash their inner buccaneer.

Cool and Comfortable Retreat for Adults

Exclusively for adults, Deck 13 forward will include a new water feature, Satellite Falls, a circular splash pool with benches and a gently falling rain curtain that provides cool comfort. Around this upper deck, adult guests can soak up the sun in loungers or relax in the shade under a canopy.

This wave of enhancements to the Disney Dream debuts on the Oct. 26 four-night voyage from Port Canaveral to the Bahamas and Disney’s private island, Castaway Cay. The Disney Dream will continue to sail three- and four-night cruises from Port Canaveral to theBahamas throughout 2015 and into 2016.

Schussler Creative, specialists in the creation and consultation of attractions, restaurants, retail stores and entertainment venues worldwide, has opened The BOATHOUSE: Great Food, Waterfront Dining, Dream Boats – located at Downtown Disney at Walt Disney World® Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. Schussler Creative is also the creator of other restaurant/retail attractions at Walt Disney World Resort including Rainforest Cafe (Downtown Disney and Disney’s Animal Kingdom® theme park/created by Schussler Creative; owned and operated by Landry’s); T-REX™ Cafe (Downtown Disney/created and co-owned by Schussler Creative and operated by Landry’s); and Yak & Yeti™ (Disney’s Animal Kingdom theme park/created and co-owned by Schussler Creative; operated by Landry’s).

The BOATHOUSE officially opened its doors on April 13, 2015 as one of the new venues in The Landing, the first of four planned neighborhoods as Downtown Disney transitions into Disney Springs, an exciting new waterfront district for shopping, dining and entertainment. Completion of Disney Springs is set for 2016.

The BOATHOUSE is an upscale, waterfront dining experience featuring spectacular floating artwork: dream boats from the 30’s, 40’s & 50’s. The restaurant is 24,000 square feet, with 8,000 feet devoted to the state-of-the-art kitchen where an extensive menu is prepared, showcasing steaks, chops, fresh seafood and a raw bar. The BOATHOUSE will seat up to 600 guests and will serve guests until 2 a.m. The restaurant is designed with spectacular nautically-themed rooms including The Runabout, Twin Transoms, and The Lake House.

There are also two private dining rooms: The Regatta and The Trophy Room for hosting special events, receptions, and corporate presentations. In addition, there are three distinctive bars featuring classic craft cocktails, along with an extensive list of wines, anchored by iconic American vineyards. Bars include: The Captain’s Raw Bar, The Admiral’s Club Bar and The Dock Bar, which is built over the water and attached to over 300 feet of boardwalk and docks, connecting all areas of the restaurant. The BOATHOUSE restaurant will be managed by the award-winning Gibsons Restaurant Group, internationally renowned and celebrated for exceptional food, service and hospitality.

More than a dining experience, The BOATHOUSE immerses guests inside and out with waterfront adventures including live music and romantic Captain’s guided tours aboard The Venezia, a beautifully crafted 40-foot wooden Italian Water Taxi featuring champagne toasts and chocolate-covered strawberries. There is also a multi-million dollar fleet of 19 rare boats on display, gathered from museums, private collectors, and boat shows from around the world.

Among the star attractions are Captain-guided tours from The BOATHOUSE Amphicars. These amphibious autos launch from land, entering the water with a splash, taking guests on a 20-minute tour of the landmarks of Downtown Disney. Most people have never seen an amphicar because there were only 3,878 of these unique vehicles produced from 1961 to 1968. The BOATHOUSE Amphicars have all been completely restored in order to delight guests with the ride of a lifetime.

Throughout each day and evening, The BOATHOUSE Harbor Master will orchestrate flag ceremonies, accompanied by a lively musical performance of beloved bugle songs, performed aboard a classic 1800’s antique steam boat.

The Ship’s Store, adjacent to The BOATHOUSE restaurant, sports an All-American look, reminiscent of the art deco period of 1939 to 1959, updated with modern mahogany accents. Authentic nautical items are featured at The Ship’s Store such as custom engraved paddles and life rings personalized with a guest’s name or favorite saying, along with Rubba Ducks®, distinctive lake-themed merchandise, fine apparel, jewelry, and unique items “Made on Earth™.”

“We are extremely honored to open The BOATHOUSE at Downtown Disney, and to be part of the upcoming and exciting transformation into Disney Springs,” said creator Steven Schussler. “We are very proud of our menu and the upscale experience that we have created for our guests. Unbelievable food and service are the top priority, so we chose to partner with Gibsons Restaurant Group to bring their culinary expertise and legendary great service to The BOATHOUSE. In addition to the amazing food, The BOATHOUSE offers a number of water adventures including the guided Captain’s tours on our 40-foot Italian Water Taxi and Amphicars, as well as live music daily.”

In addition to the daily prizes, Disneyland Diamond Days will offer guests a weekly opportunity to win exceptional Disneyland Resort prizes and experiences. Appropriately enough, the most exciting prizes are authentic diamonds, custom-engraved for Disney! One- and two-carat Disney Diamonds will be awarded throughout the celebration, and some will commemorate dates with particular significance to the Disneyland Resort. One-carat Disney Diamonds will even be paired with a stay in the Disneyland Dream Suite.

The Disneyland Dream Suite is a magical, private apartment located above the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction in New Orleans Square inside Disneyland. It was created using unrealized designs originally intended for a private apartment for Walt Disney himself. The Dream Suite is filled with magical decor, elegant furnishings and special details that surprise and delight its guests. An overnight stay, including a view of Disneyland after park guests have departed, is a money-can’t-buy experience that will be enjoyed only by a few lucky prize winners.

Weekly prizes include: a clear, crystal Cinderella slipper, adorned with a diamond-and-topaz pendant; plus highly unique experiences that only Disneyland can offer, such as a private party in Fantasyland, a romantic cruise aboard the Mark Twain Riverboat, or a tailgate party in Cars Land. The available prize will vary each week.

Beginning with a fun-filled 24-hour party – 6 a.m. Friday, May 22, to 6 a.m. Saturday, May 23, 2015, local time** – the Diamond Celebration will honor the fun, warmth and forever-young magic of the Disneyland Resort, highlighted by three electrifying new nighttime shows that will take guests into the worlds of Disney stories like never before.

The shows include the moving new presentation “World of Color – Celebrate! The Wonderful World of Walt Disney!” in Disney California Adventure, celebrating Walt Disney’s dream of an adventure-filled park where adults and children can have fun together. “World of Color – Celebrate!” features animation, lights, lasers and music, along with award-winning actor Neil Patrick Harris and Mickey Mouseappearing in film sequences on the magical “World of Color” water canvas. In Disneyland, the new after-dark parade “Paint the Night” is a neon river of light coming down Main Street, U.S.A., with Disney characters and dazzling scenes portrayed in more than 1.5 million individually controlled lights. The new “Disneyland Forever” fireworks reinvent the classic Disneyland pyrotechnic show, using projections on the buildings of Main Street, U.S.A., the facade of “it’s a small world,” the “Fantasmic!” mist screens and the Matterhorn mountain to transform the after-dark experience in the park.

Also special for the Diamond Celebration, musical groups are incorporating dazzling moments in their shows, from Diamond Sing-Alongs with the Dapper Dans to Diamond Dance-Alongs with the Straw Hatters in Disneyland, and with Goofy and Five & Dime in Disney California Adventure. As never before, guests will be invited to become part of this Disneyland Resort musical magic, joining the Disneyland Band in a daily Diamond March-Along up Main Street, U.S.A., or dreaming along with Mickey Mouse as he shares an upbeat, new song with the Red Car News Boys, envisioning his future in the Happiest Place on Earth.

Full official rules will be available at Disneyland.com/DiamondDays on May 22, 2015.

* NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. Void where prohibited. Open to legal residents of the 50 U.S., D.C., Mexico and Canada (excludingQuebec) who are age of majority as of date of entry. Specific prizes to be awarded in the weekly sweepstakes will be announced online at Disneyland.com/DiamondDays the preceding week.  Sponsor: Disney Memories, 500 S. Buena Vista Street, Burbank, CA 91521,U.S.A.

** Hours of operation: 6 a.m. on 5/22/15 to 6 a.m. on 5/23/15, local time, subject to capacity restrictions. Only select attractions, entertainment and services will be available. Valid theme park admission required. Subject to restrictions and change without notice.

Nominees For 16th Annual Golden Trailer Awards Revealed As The Entertainment Industry Celebrates The Best In Motion Picture Trailers And Television Marketing

The Golden Trailer Awards

The Golden Trailer Awards

The Golden Trailer Awards, the entertainment industry’s best and most fun-filled celebration devoted to the year’s most outstanding achievements in motion picture and television marketing, announced today the nominees in the 16th annual competition that has emerged as one of the most anticipated and recognized events acknowledging the work of film marketers and companies that create movie trailers, commercials and posters worldwide.  Evelyn Watters, Golden Trailer Awards Executive Director, along with the show’s executive producer Monica Brady, announced the 2015 nominees.  The event will take place on Wednesday, May 6th at the Saban Theater in Beverly Hills.

Universal Pictures led this year’s count by studio with a combined total of 44 nominations (including Focus Features) for films includingFurious 7, Jurassic World, Minions, Unbroken and Ted 2, among others. In second place by studio is Fox (which includes Searchlight and the Fox Network Group), with a total of 41 nominations for work on projects including Birdman, Kingsman: The Secret Service, Gone Girl, and Wild, among other titles. Lionsgate and Warner Bros. tied with 36 nominations apiece. Lionsgate garnered nods for their work on films such as The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1, The Divergent Series: Insurgent, and The Expendables 3, as well as others. Warner Bros. tally includes nominees from subsidiary New Line Cinema, and includes recognition for work on films ranging fromMad Max: Fury Road and Tammy to American Sniper and The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies. Disney rounded out the top 5 with 20 nominations for films including Big Hero 6, Ant Man, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Guardians of the Galaxy, and Tomorrowland, among others.

On the agency side, Ignition Creative worked on 44 of this year’s nominees (12 Trailers and TV Spots and 32 Print nominees).  Other creative agencies leading this year’s pack included AV Squad with 26 nominations, Trailer Park earned 25 nominations, Buddha Jones earned 17 noms, and mOcean generated 13 nods this year.

The Golden Trailer Awards are presented to nominees in 82 diverse categories that range from serious to lighthearted, including Best Summer Blockbuster Trailer Award, Trashiest Trailer, Most Romantic Trailer, Best of Show, and the most popular award of the night: the Golden Fleece Award, bestowed on the best trailer for the film where the marketing was considered better than the film itself.

Explained Watters, “The movie trailer is the most important piece of marketing in the studio’s war chest. A memorable trailer can make or break a campaign, especially today, when so many people are viewing these materials digitally. The first Fifty Shades of Grey trailer was viewed online by an estimated 7 million people in the first 24 hours. A few years ago, The Avengers trailer generated 10 million views in its first day of release. The Golden Trailer Awards celebrates and rewards the best of the best by showcasing the extraordinary and talented artists, editors, executives, and visual effects and animation wizards who have mastered the art of selling a movie in roughly 2 minutes.”

There are six new categories for 2015, including: Best Teaser, Best Original Score TV Spot, Best Billboard, Best Fantasy/Adventure Poster, Best Trailer for a TV Series/Mini-series, and Best Fantasy Adventure TV Spot.

19 of the top honors are presented “live” on stage at the celebratory show, which routinely sells out and draws a heavy industry crowd of studio and network marketing executives, representatives from creative agencies, media and celebrities.

This year’s competition drew a record number of submissions, up nearly 17% from last year’s  total.
