Muppets Most Wanted: A Must See Film

By:D-Team Erin

Muppets Most Wanted

Muppets Most Wanted

Hey D-heads.  I took my son today to see the new Muppet movie, Muppets Most Wanted.  This is a spoiler free review of what I thought of the film.

The movie is preceded by a Monsters University cartoon that is really enjoyable so don’t be late.  They also showed the latest Maleficent movie trailer and I can’t be more excited.

Getting back to Kermit and friends, I never get tired of a good Muppet movie and this one didn’t disappoint.  It is a great family film that parents and kids will both enjoy.  For those of us who grew up watching the Muppets this is another great adventure those loveable characters take us on. The film has some familiar cameo guest stars. The stars of this film are Ricky Gervais, Ty Burrell, Tina Fey and of course the Muppets.  Tina Fey is great as Nadya and she has some great musical and comical moments.  The interaction between Ty Burrell, as a French inspector, and Sam Eagle is brilliant.  And of course Ricky Gervais as Dominic Badguy is a great part of the film.  If you love the Muppets this a must see film for you.  I hope this leads to more Muppet movies in the future.

ABOUT MUPPETS MOST WANTED:
Following on from the end of their last film, the Muppets find themselves at a loss as to what to do next. Per the suggestion of their tour manager Dominic Badguy (Ricky Gervais), the Muppets decide to embark on a world tour. Meanwhile, Constantine, the world’s number one criminal and a complete dead ringer for Kermit, escapes from a Siberian Gulag, before making contact with Badguy, who turns out to be Constantine’s subordinate; a position Constantine frequently reminds him of.

Arriving in Berlin, the Muppets intend to play in a shabby venue, but Dominic secures them a show at a more prestigious location. Becoming increasingly frustrated with the rest of the Muppets’ ludicrous requests for the show and Miss Piggy‘s insistent hints at marriage, Kermit takes a stroll to calm down at the suggestion of Badguy. However, he is ambushed by a hooded Constantine, who slaps a fake mole on Kermit’s right cheek, making him resemble Constantine. Constantine escapes and Kermit is arrested and taken to the Gulag in his place.

Celebrate the 50th Anniversary of a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow with the ‘Carousel of Progress’

'The Carousel of Progress' Celebrating 50 Years!

‘The Carousel of Progress’ Celebrating 50 Years!

How to begin. Well, fifty years ago Walt Disney and his team created some outstanding attractions for the General Electric (GE) Pavilion for the 1964 New York World’s Fair. One seems to get all the love in ‘It’s a Small World’. Now mind you, it is a wonderful song, a Disney theme and icon attraction. But many forget Walt created other attractions that equally have a place in our hearts. From Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln to one of my personal favorites, The Carousel of Progress.

The Carousel of Progress is one of the only attractions at Walt Disney World that has personally been touched by Walt himself.

The Carousel of Progress is one of the only attractions at Walt Disney World that has personally been touched by Walt himself.

The Carousel of Progress takes you through a journey of time, from the turn of the century, through the latest in technology and advancements. The show made it’s way from the World’s Fair to Disneyland from 1967 through 1973. At that time it was then removed and was replaced by America Sings in 1974. But the show was not gone for good. It was relocated to Walt Disney World in the Magic Kingdom and opened in 1975, just one year before this author was born and on his way to his first trip to the park.

“Fact: The Carousel of Progress holds the record as the longest-running stage show with the most performances in the history of American Theater and is one of the ONLY attractions at Walt Disney World that had been touched by Walt himself”

Over the years the show has changed and made way to be upgraded with the current trends and times for the final scenes. We grew to love  Rex Allen as Father, with his warm voice and fatherly feel to it that we all could relate to. The song by Disney’s top writers Richard M. Sherman and Robert B. Sherman went on to live in Disney lore as a fan favorite. It was a segway track that evolved with the show in between scenes as the acts bridged into the next. “There’s a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow” has become a Disney staple since. IT was even featured in the Disney film ‘Meet the Robinsons.’ It has been said that the writing team said the song does encompass Walt and his being optimistic and excited about the future.

The Turn of the Century

The Turn of the Century

Now as much as I do love that version of the show, the Sherman Brothers also wrote another theme song when the show changed sponsors in the mid 1980s. This song I still personally love. It encompassed the here and now, the get up and take action in creating the future. What was that song that replaced ‘Great Big’? Well it was  “Now is the Time,” but also known by the title “The Best Time Of Your Life.

Time has passed, and many things evolve in time. The show changed, and people have changed. But one thing remains, a love of the Carousel of Progress. Even though the show has changed over time, went back to the original theme song, and is only open from time to time for park guests to enjoy,  it is a true gem. It is one that SHOULD NOT be looked over when at the Magic Kingdom, and one that should remain as a part of Walt to stay in the park.

So while everyone will be sure to celebrate It’s Small World, and yes, we love it here too, let’s not forget that there is a ‘Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow’ that has endured for 50 years as well.

Disney Fairies Journey to Neverland in “The Pirate Fairy” and keep the Magic and Essence of Disney’s Original Peter Pan

The Pirate Fairy sets sail April 1st

The Pirate Fairy sets sail April 1st

Get ready for a swashbuckling adventure as the fifth installment of the Disney Fairies franchise, “The Pirate Fairy,” is released on Blu-ray Combo Pack April 1st. In the much anticipated movie, we’ll be introduced to the newest fairy, Zarina, who is sure to be a pixie that packs a punch. She is a pirate, after all!

Tinker Bell, Vidia, Silvermist and Iridessa venture to Neverland in The Pirate Fairy

Tinker Bell, Vidia, Silvermist and Iridessa venture to Neverland in The Pirate Fairy

In “The Pirate Fairy,” Zarina is captivated by Blue Pixie Dust and its enchanting possibilities, which leads her to join forces with the pirates of Skull Rock. Tinker Bell and her fairy friends will travel to Neverland for the first time ever in an attempt to find Zarina and bring her back to Pixie Hollow. The film captures the magic and essence of the original Disney classic Peter Pan! From the iconic Skull Rock, to the sights, sounds, and magic, it will all seem very familiar and yet new. (You can listen to Blayne Weaver, who has portrayed Pan in Return to Neverland when he stopped in on DizRadio)

Skull Rock takes shape and pays tribute to Pan's home in The Pirate Fairy

Skull Rock takes shape and pays tribute to Pan’s home in The Pirate Fairy

The iconic setting of Neverland is ideal for any Peter Pan fan, and will surely elicit an homage or two. In fact, we hear that a young Captain Hook may even make an appearance!

The Pirate Fairy brings us many new views of some of our favorite classic characters too in a young Captain James Hook, and even some of Tick Tock Croc’s family. Disney has been able to capture the Fairies in such a way that every installment has been a true gem and delight to view as a family. And the excitement builds as now we pull Tink and her friends into Pan’s Neverland and connect all the dots.

Six Disney-Inspired Ways to Welcome Spring

March 20, 2014 D-Team, dizradio, Epcot No Comments
Welcome to Spring the Disney Way.

Welcome to Spring the Disney Way.

By: D-Team Caitlin

1.  Nothing is quite as “springy” as a good Pooh movie, especially when Roo is involved. Pick up a copy of the newly released “Winnie the Pooh: Springtime with Roo” on Blu-ray and DVD, and pretend you’re in one of the loveliest spring spots—The Hundred Acre Wood.

2.  Make a delicious cake inspired by Tinker Bell’s fairy wings. Just the sight of it will make you wish for warm weather. Enjoy your tasty treat during a viewing of “Secret of the Wings!”

3.  Bring the Epcot Flower and Garden Festival to you by making a DIY Disney Flower Pot. It would be the perfect habitat for a succulent or two.

4.  What do you get when you cross a dancing caterpillar, a bee hive, and a thunderstorm? Watch the animated short, Springtime for Pluto to find out!

5.  Learn how spring’s arrival is welcomed all over the world. Spoonful has compiled several cultural traditions that are accompanied by child-friendly activities to make for fun teaching moments. It’s like taking a trip around the World Showcase from the comfort of your own home.

6.   Listen to this Disney Springtime Playlist: All in the Golden Afternoon, Little April Shower, In a World of My Own, Once Upon a Dream, A Smile and a Song, Little Black Rain Cloud, Jolly Holiday.

Think Spring!
