Think You Have Seen Disneyland? Try It Again In ‘Seen, Un-Seen Disneyland’ The All-New Book

Many of you D-Heads and Disney Fans know every nook and cranny of the Disney Parks. And with all the awesome podcasts and websites out there we always uncover some more. I can’t go a day without learning something new about them.

And now for you Disneyland lovers there is a new book that hit the market that will uncover more hidden gems, close up shots and more. This being the newest addition to Disney Books to read in SEEN, UNSEEN DISNEYLAND by Russell D. Flores.

Author Russell D. Flores with the first shipment of “Seen, Unseen Disneyland”

“Have you ever looked around while visiting Disneyland? I mean REALLY looked around? Have you been to the Park many times, and still see things that you had never noticed before? Seen, Un-Seen Disneyland brings some of the most hidden, obscure, and detailed elements at the Park to light that each help to contribute to the MAGIC that is Disneyland! This book contains 193 pages, 374 pictures, 327 picture comments, 116 notes, 13 quizzes and 121 references. Seen, Un-Seen Disneyland will help you enjoy many of the wonders that the Imagineers have incorporated into this wonderful place called Disneyland.”

The current people who have had a chance to uncover this new gem have said:

“Even if you have made many trips to Disneyland, you probably have not noticed all of the little touches that were designed into the park. This book is a delight to read, bringing up many “I never knew that” comments. The author’s many color photographs enable the reader to actually visualize all the points discussed. Loads of fun!” ~

Dave Smith Chief Archivist Emeritus (retired Walt Disney Archives)

“A fascinating look into some of the magic that makes Disneyland so special. No matter how well you think you know Disneyland this book will show you something for the first time.” ~

Bill Cotter Author (The Wonderful World of Disney Television)

“You may think you know Disneyland, you may have been a dozen or more times, but the only way to truly know Disneyland is to read this book. It is a comprehensive treasure trove of insiders information of the inside story of Disneyland’s design. I thought I knew the park until I read this book, now I realize what I was missing, this is a must read for any Disneyland fan! ~

David Oneal / Extinct Attractions

This book is a must have in any collection of the book we all know we already have from Disney. The forward alone sums it all up and gives me chills thinking about uncovering even more than I already know about the ‘Happiest Place on Earth.’

FORWARD: Disneyland is a magical place that has layers of multiple surprises and experiences that captures our attention and excites our senses. Russell’s new book reveals the back stories and the little details that you might not be aware of, that makes Disneyland so special. He has made multiple trips to the park to photograph and document his findings. As a annual passholder, who has been to the park over 250 times, I can tell you that I have learned many new things and was happy to revisit many familiar things to me. Disneyland Seen and Unseen will delight any Disney park enthusiast.

Walt Disney Pictures gets the team behind ‘Safety Not Guaranteed’ to rewrite ‘Flight of the Navigator’

1986: Flight of the Navigator

One film I remember as a child was Flight of the Navigator. There was something about this sci-fi film that had the heart and feel of the 80s era of Disney films. It seems according to Variety, the team behind the Sundance Film Festival’s hit Safety Not Guaranteed of Derek Connolly and Colin Trevorrow to rewrite the all new re-envisioned Flight of the Navigator.

Yes, that wonderful film from 1986 starring Joey Cramer, and Sarah Jessica Parker that followed the journey of a twelve year old boy who is taken for a space ride in a ship (voiced by Paul Reubens) and reappears eight years later un-aged and still that twelve year old boy. Although the rest of the world and his siblings, parents and more have continued to age.

The reboot was started back in 2009 with Brad Copeland penning it.< It now moves into a new court and it may serve as a directorial direction for Trevorrow. Currently they are working on a variety of other projects and Connolly is currently writing a new greenlit project for Pixar. I know we will keep a close eye on this one.

What are your thoughts of a remake? What did you think of the original?

‘The Deadliest Cast Member’ by MouseWait’s Kelly Ryan Johns Interactive Book Series

The Deadliest Cast Member by Kelly Ryan Johns

Kelly Johns developed MouseWait, which is one of the most popular Disneyland iPhone and Android apps in history. Now, he is taking MouseWait’s 100,000 plus community on an adventure with Jack Duncan, former SEAL Team Six member, billionaire tech-mogul, and Disney Legend. Part One of The Deadliest Cast Member was made available over the weekend for free on Amazon’s Kindle platform.

“My goal is to make this series an interactive adventure we can all go on together” said Kelly Johns.

Johns integrated a simple feedback form inside the novel that allows readers to submit their ideas and requests in regards to what they would like to see happen in the book series.

“It’s the same thing I did with MouseWait” said Johns, “I built MouseWait mostly on user feedback since we started in 2009 and people love it when you listen to them”

MouseWait for iPhone and Android is a free app that gives you accurate wait times and information on all attractions — even restaurants. It also gives people a live view of what’s happening at Disneyland through thousands of user-generated pictures and videos that stream through the mobile app and the web version of MouseWait. A massive community has developed around MouseWait. Many of these “MouseWaiters” as they call themselves have developed significant friendships as a result of the community, which is a phenomenon Johns says he couldn’t have predicted. You can see the MouseWait Story here.

Part One of the novel contains an in-depth description of Jack Duncan’s residence and life at the El Capitan Presidential Suite in the Grand Californian Hotel. Duncan moves to the Dream Suite when Johnny Depp comes into town and they ride Pirates of the Caribbean together. They also delve deep into the legend of Jean Lafitte, a nineteenth century pirate Walt Disney inserted as a central figure in New Orleans Square. Readers get the chance to sit with Walt Disney over coffee in his private apartment above the Fire House on Main Street USA in 1959 – and hear the excitement in his voice as Disneyland expands.

“I have a deep respect for Disneyland and all Cast Members past and present. My family has so many great memories there” said Johns who has been a Disneyland annual passholder for almost 20 years consecutively. “I want to immerse people in the enchanted world of Disneyland through a larger-than-life character who lives at the Resort with his family”

You don’t need a Kindle device to download the book. The free Kindle app is available on almost all smart phones including iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad, and Android. You can also download it to your PC or Mac.

The Deadliest Cast Member is free for an unspecified amount of time on Amazon and after that it will move to its regular price.

Cate Blanchett in Discussion to Become the Evil Stepmother in Disney’s ‘Cinderella’ Live Action Film

Cate Blanchett in Talks to play Cinderella’s Evil Step Mother

Disney has been hot on the trail working on some of their classics becoming big screen live action adaptions. From films coming like Maleficent, there are some great ones in the works including the newest adaption of the Disney Masterpiece Cinderella.

The idea kicked off in 2010 with success of Alice in Wonderland from Tim Burton and since has gained much steam. The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that Cate Blanchett is in negotiations to become the Evil Stepmother in the re-envisioned Cinderella.

The film will be directed by Mark Romanek, and the screenplay was created by Chris Weitz who previously penned ‘About a Boy.’ The executive producer on the project is currently Simon Kinberg of the X-Men Trilogy.

Cate Blanchett was in talks to play the Evil Witch in an adaption of Snow White but the project never was green lit to become a reality. We recently spoke to Susanne Blakeslee who plays the Evil Stepmother in Cinderella II & III on DVD (Listen to that Show by Clicking Here).

We are excited for this film and once the Hobbit hits the screens and we see her there once again, it would be nice to see her play the Evil one in Cinderella.

Hallmark Bumps Up the Fun with Licensed Text Bands including ‘Shake It Up’

November 27, 2012 Disney Deals, Disney News No Comments

Hallmark adds a new twist to its Text Bands line with licensed style bands featuring characters, shows and singers kids love. Participating Hallmark Gold Crown stores now offer a Cody Simpson style band, plus one featuring the hit Disney show “Shake It Up!”

Bella Thorne from Disney’s ‘Shake It Up’ Shows the New Hallmark Text Bands

With the new style bands, fans of Cody Simpson and “Shake It Up!” can bump up the fun with Hallmark Text Bands, which allow kids to trade messages by bumping fists or shaking hands. Interchangeable style bands give kids an opportunity to showcase their style by changing their band to match their outfits, moods or interests of the day. “Shake It Up!” star Bella Thorne recently gave Hallmark Text Bands as party favors to guests who attended her Quinceanera, including co-stars Zendaya Coleman and Caroline Sunshine.

“My friends who came to my birthday party love their Hallmark Text Bands,” said Bella Thorne, “Shake It Up!” actress. “I’m excited Hallmark created “Shake It Up!” style bands, so all my fans can join in the Text Bands fun.”

The new “Shake It Up!” and Cody Simpson designs join a collection of more than 10 style bands, which retail for $4.99 each. Australian teen singer and songwriter Cody Simpson, who currently is on tour with Justin Bieber, helped Hallmark introduce Text Bands this summer at Hallmark Text Bands launch parties. The style band he inspired includes his logo in bright colors and is the first of many Hallmark Cody Simpson products to be available in Hallmark Gold Crown stores. Hallmark recently announced a Hallmark Cody Simpson greeting card line, which will be available the beginning of 2013.

“It’s cool that Hallmark made a Text Band just for my fans,” said Cody Simpson. “I’d love to see all of my angels rocking the band at my concerts.”

“By adding licensed products, like Cody Simpson and “Shake It Up!”, to our growing style band collection, we’re able to give kids a chance to not only connect with friends in a new way, but to celebrate a show, character or musician they admire,” said Dan Woodall, Hallmark Product Manager. “Text Bands and the new style bands make great birthday or upcoming holiday gifts for Cody Simpson and “Shake It Up!” fans.”

The All-New Magical Miles: A Runners Guide To Walt Disney World Book

All-New Book: A Runner’s guide to Walt Disney World

With health and fitness taking center stage across the United States of America, parents and fitness experts are continuously searching for fun, family-centered ways to promote exercise. Krista Albrecht and Megan Biller, travel specialists, today announced the debut of a new guide book to family fitness through a state of the art running program, runDisney.

The book, entitled Magical Miles: The Runner’s Guide to Walt Disney World outlines the runDisney program. According to The Disney Post: The Official Blog of the Walt Disney World Company, runDisney events attract over 200,000 participants each year. Events are selling out faster than ever and runDisney has rapidly expanded over the past twenty years by adding new races and exciting special events. Currently runDisney boasts seven weekend-long events and includes thousands of participants from across the globe!

“Runners who participate in runDisney events tend to have an affinity to the Disney product and enjoy running and physical fitness,” says Albrecht. “This melding of two worlds – runners and Disney fans – adds to the popularity of these events.”

However, it takes expert planning to incorporate a runDisney event into an already jam-packed family vacation. Magical Miles outlines the answers to difficult questions, including:

What race is right for my family?

How should I navigate events?

What restaurants offer the best celebration meal?

What entertainment will I see along the race course?

How should I pack for a runDisney event?

What resources are available for training?

With 45% of runDisney participants new to running and 65% experiencing their first runDisney event, there is a lot of uncertainty among participants. As travel specialists (focusing exclusively on Disney destinations) and avid runners, Albrecht and Biller help new and veteran runners with a soft spot for Disney, plan ahead for their runDisney event and family vacation.

Offering advice on resorts, restaurants, race registration, packing tips, spectator information, training, race day information and much more, this guidebook gives participants peace of mind before heading into their first or fiftieth runDisney event. Having experienced runDisney events, Disney resorts and restaurants, along with in-depth research about runDisney events and logistics, the authors of Magical Miles: The Runner’s Guide to Walt Disney World have every aspect of your vacation and race covered.

“The difference between a runDisney race and a standard marathon is clear from the outset,” says Biller. “Every runner is celebrated, from the winner to last place, and the Disney magic is experienced throughout each event.”

The best part about runDisney is arguably the after party. The Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida features four theme parks, two water parks, 20 plus themed resorts, two entertainment districts and a state of the art sports complex.

The book can be purchased from Amazon and will be sold for $15.99 starting November 26, 2012.
