Alternative Disney Halloween Costumes – Part 2

October 29, 2014 dizradio No Comments

By D-Team Caitlin:

Want to stand out in a crowd full of Anna’s, Elsa’s, and Olaf’s? You’re in the right place!

One of our favorite parts of Halloween is getting to express yourself through your costume. And we are firm believers in the power of imagination. So, put yours to the test this Halloween, and let’s get creative!

Disney Parks Trash Cans

Disney Parks Trash Cans

  1. Disney Parks Trash Cans:

Now this is inventive. My friend, Chris and his pals, Laura, James, Jen, Lindsey, and Sarah went all out for this years’ Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party. Each of them is modeled after a different land in the Magic Kingdom. Their attention to detail is impressive to say the least!

Did we mention they really get into character? #disneyheroes

Disney Cast Member

  1. Disney Cast Member:

Do you have a favorite Cast Member costume? Try recreating it with items from your own closet or the Goodwill store.

-Who doesn’t love the Haunted Mansion costume? Try your hand at a DIY WDW name tag to top it all off. Mine is made from a plastic plate and computer paper. Cover in packing tape, glue on a safety pin, and you’re all set!

Favorite Disney Attraction

Favorite Disney Attraction

  1. Favorite Disney Attraction:

If you’re up for a challenge, DIY a costume inspired by one of your favorite Disney attractions. Chris, King of the Costume DIY, brought down the house once again when he dressed as The Enchanted Tiki RoomTalk about unique!

Walt Disney himself

Walt Disney himself

  1. Walt Disney:

We’ve always thought the man behind the magic should get a lot more love on Halloween. Instead of dressing up as a character he created, how about dressing up as him instead! Walt liked to stick with classic solid or pinstriped suits, sweater vests, ties, and fedoras. Bring along a sketch pad of Mickey Mouse for extra oomph. And don’t forget to don his iconic pencil mustache.

Happy Halloween!

Kim Possible & Ron Stoppable

Kim Possible & Ron Stoppable

  1. Kim Possible & Ron Stoppable:

“Doesn’t matter where or when there’s trouble, if you just call my name – Kim Possible!” You can’t go wrong with these classic 2000s Disney Channel cartoon characters, especially if you’re dressing as a couple. Just be prepared for everyone in their mid-20s to ask “Where’s Rufus?!” all night long. Naked Mole Rats are surprisingly hard to track down.

The Cast of Recess

The Cast of Recess

  1. The Cast of Recess:

Who didn’t love this cult classic?! Dig through your closet for a leader-of-the-pack TJ Dettweiller or spunky Spinelli outfit. This would make a great costume for couples, groups, and families! Remember the wild kindergarteners? Or “the Ashley’s”? Miss Finster? King Bob? Swinger Girl? There are so many potential costumes in this show!

Pineapple Dole Whip // Mickey Ice Cream Bar

Pineapple Dole Whip // Mickey Ice Cream Bar

  1. Pineapple Dole Whip // Mickey Ice Cream Bar

These classically delicious Disney Park treats are sure to make everyone reminiscent of their last Disney vacay (and probably hungry, too.) Color coordinate your outfit with the treat you’re representing, and get creative with your hats!

-The Pineapple Dole Whip cup is made of a plastic plate and Manila file folders. I colored on the Disney Parks logo and trim with markers. For the rest, I used pipe cleaners, felt, ribbon, and tape. (Pro Tip: For extra security, glue a hair comb to the bottom of the plate.)

 Mickey Ice Cream Bar

-The Mickey Ice Cream Bar is made of file folders, covered in felt and attached to a Swizzle stick. Attach the stick to a headband, cover in felt, and you’re ready to go.

Happy Halloween!

Edgar Rice Burroughs, Inc. announces that the movie, television and merchandise rights have reverted back to the company. Walt Disney Pictures held the rights and produced the movie JOHN CARTER in 2012. Edgar Rice Burroughs, Inc. will be seeking a new studio to continue this seminal Sci-Fi adventure.

“John Carter of Mars was the creative stimulus behind such movie classics as Superman, Star Wars and Avatar,” said James Sullos, President. “Edgar Rice Burroughs was the Master of Adventure and his literary works continue to enjoy a world-wide following. We will be seeking a new partner to help develop new adventures on film as chronicled in the eleven Mars novels Burroughs wrote. This adventure never stops. Along with a new TARZAN film in development by Warner Bros., we hope to have JOHN CARTER OF MARS become another major franchise to entertain world-wide audiences of all ages.”
Founded in 1923 by Edgar Rice Burroughs himself, Edgar Rice Burroughs, Inc. holds numerous trademarks and the rights to all literary works of the author still protected by copyright. The company has overseen every adaptation of his literary works in publishing, film, television, theatrical stage productions, licensing and merchandising. The company continues to be owned by the Burroughs family and remains headquartered in Tarzana, California, the town named after the Tarzana Ranch Mr. Burroughs purchased there in 1918 which led to the town’s future development. The Walt Disney Birthplace Kicks-Off “Start Some Good” Fundraising Campaign

The Walt Disney Birthplace will kick-off its “Start Some Good” fundraising campaign on Tuesday, October 21, 2014 and will run until Walt Disney’s birthday on December 5, 2014. The fundraiser, http://www.startsomegood.com/WDB, will support costs associated with the Phase one exterior restoration efforts. A variety of special events will also be a part of the campaign. For more news and information about the Walt Disney Birthplace restoration, please visit http://www.TheWaltDisneyBirthplace.org

Walt Disney fans worldwide are rejoicing that the landmark home in Chicago, IL where Walt and Roy Disney were born has been privately purchased and is in the process of being restored. The modest home, built in 1893 by Elias and Flora Disney for their growing family, will become a museum and cultural space. The target date for completion of Phase 1 of the exterior restoration is December 2014.

The restored birthplace will also be the corporate home for The Center for Early Childhood Creativity and Innovation (CECCI), a 501(c)(3) non-profit, which is dedicated to nurturing creativity and innovative thinking in children ages 6 months to 12. The goal is to share Walt Disney’s life as an inspirational message that children’s dreams can come true through the magic of their own imagination. Through providing artistic vision and development, CECCI will become a major creative platform for children everywhere.

Executive Director Todd Regan stated, “This is a perfect opportunity for Disney fans around the world to become part of the story as we preserve Walt’s birthplace. This quaint little house is literally where both the animation and theme park industries as we know them today truly began. We can take the empowering lessons of Walt Disney to children everywhere, but we need your help to do it.”

Supporters of this Start Some Good campaign will receive special rewards including t-shirts, hats, limited-edition posters, dedicated paver stones outside the restored home, and more. Items will be available in time to make great holiday gifts.

Walt Disney Records’ Big Hero 6 Soundtrack Features Original Song “Immortals” From Fall Out Boy And Score By Henry Jackman

Walt Disney Records' Big Hero 6 Soundtrack Features Original Song "Immortals" From Fall Out Boy

Walt Disney Records’ Big Hero 6 Soundtrack Features Original Song “Immortals” From Fall Out Boy

The Big Hero 6 original motion picture soundtrack will be available at digital retail on November 4 and on CD November 24th and features an original song, “Immortals” from Fall Out Boy. The soundtrack includes score from Henry Jackman (“Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” “Captain Phillips” and “Wreck-It-Ralph”).  Pre-order for the album begins today.

Fall Out Boy was tapped to write and perform the song for the film’s sequence in which the “Big Hero 6″ team is transformed from a group of super smart individuals to a band of high-tech heroes. “The idea of this kid stepping up on behalf of his brother is what inspired the song’s title ‘Immortals,'” says Patrick Stump. “Your victories aren’t exclusively yours, so the fact that all of these people are coming together to help him get to the finish line is really exciting.”

“They’re testing out their new super suits for the first time in the scene,” says Pete Wentz. “Some of it works—some of it doesn’t. You get the sense that they’re stepping into a bigger role. The story’s in the DNA of Fall Out Boy. It is an authentic story and it’s who our band is—we’ve always identified with the underdog.”

Jackman used a 77-piece orchestra and created a score that celebrates the comic-book style action of “Big Hero 6,” the embracing of technology and, of course, the special relationships that are forming. “It’s very important to me in a score like this when there’s a lot of emotional content, as well as heroism and jeopardy and the rest, to allow the musicians to play together. If you can put everyone in a room together, it’s great. They bounce off each other. Music is really the emotion of the movie, beautifully stitching the scenes together,” says director Don Hall. “We wanted a score that was melodic with prominent themes, while pushing technical boundaries with electronica music, too. Henry Jackman was able to weave it all together brilliantly.”

From Walt Disney Animation Studios, the team behind “Frozen” and “Wreck-It-Ralph,” comes “Big Hero 6,” an action-packed comedy-adventure about the special bond that develops between Baymax (voice of Scott Adsit), a plus-sized inflatable robot, and prodigy Hiro Hamada (voice of Ryan Potter). When a devastating event befalls the city of San Fransokyo and catapults Hiro into the midst of danger, he turns to Baymax and his close friends adrenaline junkie Go Go Tomago (voice of Jamie Chung), neatnik Wasabi (voice of Damon Wayans Jr.), chemistry whiz Honey Lemon (voice of Genesis Rodriguez) and fanboy Fred (voice of T.J. Miller). Determined to uncover the mystery, Hiro transforms his friends into a band of high-tech heroes called “Big Hero 6.” Inspired by the Marvel comics of the same name, and featuring breathtaking action with all the heart and humor audiences expect from Walt Disney Animation Studios, “Big Hero 6″ is directed by Don Hall (“Winnie the Pooh”) and Chris Williams (“Bolt”), and produced by Roy Conli (“Tangled”). The film hits theaters in 3D on Nov. 7, 2014.

The Big Hero 6 soundtrack is set for release at digital retail Nov. 4 and on CD Nov. 24, 2014 and is available for pre-order beginning today.   A special bundle featuring a Baymax 7″ vinyl single, the soundtrack CD and poster is now available for pre-order at Disney Music Emporium: http://smarturl.it/bhsva1.  Watch the video here: http://vevo.ly/5n6uep.
