Yamaha Extends Alliance with Disneyland Resort, as Official Provider of Musical Instruments

Yamaha Corporation of America and Disneyland Resort recently announced a renewed agreement for Yamaha to remain the official provider of musical instruments to the Disneyland Resort, solidifying a relationship that has spanned more than two decades.

“Disneyland Resort and Yamaha have a great relationship, as both companies share the love of music making, so we’re pleased that it will continue to grow thanks to this renewed agreement,” said Tom Sumner, senior vice president, Yamaha Corporation of America. “In addition to being the official supplier of musical instruments for Disneyland Resort, Yamaha sponsors the All-American College Band and works with the Disney Performing Arts program, something we’re very proud of as part of our broader commitment to music education. It’s exciting that Disneyland Resort visitors will continue to have plenty of opportunities to experience and interact with Yamaha instruments and products.”

“Music has been an integral part of the Disneyland Resort experience for 60 years,” said Bruce Healey, principal music producer for the Disneyland Resort. “We are thrilled to continue our relationship with Yamaha Corporation of America to help provide one-of-a-kind music education programs and experiences for our guests.”

Since 2005, when Yamaha first became the official supplier of musical instruments for Disneyland Resort, Yamaha Disklaviers, grand pianos, upright pianos, drum kits and sound reproduction and recording equipment can be found throughout the “Happiest Place on Earth,” including the Grand Californian Hotel and the Grand Ballroom of the Disneyland Hotel.

A team of Yamaha managers and staff representatives work to satisfy the diverse needs of the Disneyland Resort, which offers daily concerts at the theme parks as well as countless musical events that are integral to the Disneyland Resort experience.

In addition to providing instruments and sound recording products, Yamaha sponsors the internationally acclaimed Disney Performing Arts program, a unique educational program which enables youth ensembles, dance troupes, bands, choirs, vocal groups and other performing arts organizations to entertain visitors at Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park, as well as take part in workshops and other music programs.

During the summer, Yamaha presents the All-American College Band, comprised of students selected during highly competitive auditions held throughout the country. The program offers 21 promising young instrumentalists the opportunity to work as musical performers for nine weeks at the world-famous resort.

Walt Disney Records Announce The Final Four Releases In The Walt Disney Records The Legacy Collection Series: “Lady And The Tramp”, “Pocahontas”, “The Aristocats”, And “Disneyland”

Walt Disney Records releases the final four installments to The Legacy Collection series. Walt Disney Records The Legacy Collection Lady and The Tramp, Pocahontas, The Aristocats, and Disneyland complete the 12-set series that launched with The Lion King in June 2014.

Each CD cover and booklet features newly created artwork from Lorelay Bove, a visual development artist at Walt Disney Animation Studios (“Big Hero 6,” “Wreck-It Ralph,” “Tangled”).  Bove was recently named one of ’10 Animators to Watch’ by Variety (March 3, 2015).

The Legacy Collection Lady and The Tramp – Released to theaters on June 22, 1955, “Lady and the Tramp” was the first animated feature to be filmed in Cinemascope and its sequence of Lady and Tramp sharing a plate of spaghetti is considered an iconic scene in American film. Lady and the Tramp was named No. 95 out of the “100 Greatest Love Stories of All Time” by the American Film Institute in their 100 Years…100 Passions special, as one of only two animated films to appear on the list. In June 2011, TIME named the feature one of “The 25 All-TIME Best Animated Films.”

Disc One of The Legacy Collection Lady and the Tramp features the restored original motion picture soundtrack with songs written by Peggy Lee and Sonny Burke.    Disc Two features The Lost Chords of Lady and the Tramp – a demo of “I’m Free as a Breeze” and 2 new recordings of “I’m Free as a Breeze” and “I’m Singin’ (‘Cause I Want to Sing), brought to life the way they would have sounded in 1955.  Disc Two also includes 6 bonus tracks from the 1962 vinyl release Lady and the Tramp: All the Songs from the Motion Picture (Disneyland Records) featuring studio singers.

The Legacy Collection Pocahontas - The label honors the soundtrack from Disney’s first full-length animated feature film based on historical fact with the 20th anniversary release of Walt Disney Records The Legacy Collection Pocahontas released on August 7, 2015.  In 1995 the music won Academy Awards® for Best Song (“Colors of the “Wind”) and Best Score (Alan Menken) in addition to a Grammy® for  “Colors of the Wind” (Alan Menken and Stephen Schwartz) for Best Song Written Specifically for a Motion Picture or for Television.

The Pocahontas collection features the songs and score from the film on Disc One. Disc Two includes the end credit tracks “Colors of the Wind” performed by Vanessa Williams and “If I Never Knew You” performed by Jon Secada and Shanice, plus songs and score cut from the film including Mel Gibson and Judy Kuhn’s version of “If I Never Knew You,” plus 3 demos. Also included are liner notes by Dave Bossert (Producer/Creative Director, Walt Disney Animation Studios), plus original concept art and a 20-page collectible booklet.

The Legacy Collection The Aristocats – The last film project approved by Walt Disney before his death in 1966, “The Aristocats” features the voices of Eva Gabor, Hermione Baddeley, Phil Harris, Dean Clark, Sterling Holloway, Scatman Crothers, and Roddy Maude-Roxby. The 20th animated feature was originally released to theaters by Buena Vista Distribution on December 11, 1970.

Disc One features the songs and score from the film including the title song written by Robert and Richard Sherman and performed by Maurice Chevalier, plus score composed by George Bruns. Disc One liner notes were written by two-time GRAMMY® nominee Greg Ehrbar, co-author of Mouse Tracks: The Story of Walt Disney Records with Tim Hollis. Disc Two features The Lost Chords of The Aristocats (4 demos and 4 newly recorded and fully orchestrated versions of those demos), 5 bonus tracks, plus liner notes by author Russell Schroeder and Producer’s Note by Randy Thornton.

The Legacy Collection Disneyland explores the rich past behind songs and attractions past and present. Beginning with the recordings from the opening day of Disneyland in 1955, the collection guides the listener down Main Street U.S.A., through the greatest attractions, shows and lands that exist today and those that are a happy memory.

Discs One and Two cover the lands beginning with Main Street U.S.A., Adventureland, Frontierland, New Orleans Square, Critter Country, Fantasyland, Mickey’s Toontown and Tomorrowland, plus 5 songs from Disney California Adventure Park. Disc Three features an additional 12 songs from Disney California Adventure Park, plus music from “The Main Street Electrical Parade” and “Fantasmic!”

The liner notes provide extensive historical background by writer Stacia Martin, a 37-year veteran of the Walt Disney Company and Disney Historian, who oversees special projects for many divisions of the company including Walt Disney World, Walt Disney Imagineering and Walt Disney Records.

This week, Disney began sales of Four Seasons Private Residences Orlando at Walt Disney World Resort, the most recent phase of development in the luxury resort-residential community of Golden Oak. Nestled within Golden Oak and offering private entry to Four Seasons Resort Orlando, these single-family custom homes will feel like an extension of the Resort with amenities just steps away.

New to the Central Florida market, these unique residences will offer a luxury lifestyle featuring personalized service delivered by Four Seasons. In addition to the benefits and amenities that come from living at Golden Oak, owners of Four Seasons Private Residences will also have a private entry and access to the amenities and services at the neighboring Four Seasons Resort Orlando, which includes a full-service spa, five pool areas, tennis courts and six onsite restaurants.

High school students nationwide can now apply at DisneyDreamersAcademy.com to be among 100 selected to participate in the 2016 Disney Dreamers Academy with Steve Harvey and ESSENCE, the innovative, outside-the-classroom, educational mentoring program at Walt Disney World Resort.

Entering the search for its ninth class of Dreamers, Disney Dreamers Academy continues to hold true to its mission to inspire and fuel the dreams of teens, help them discover a world of possibilities and help them prepare for the future. Each year, students participate in hands-on, full-immersion workshops related to a variety of career paths, ranging from animation to zoology. Each participant learns important skills such as communication techniques, leadership values and networking strategies.

It all takes place in the very magical and creative setting of Walt Disney World Resort. Dreamers are taken both on stage and behind the scenes, where Disney theme parks become vibrant ‘classrooms,’ leading to career discoveries, the pursuit of dreams and fun memories to cherish for a lifetime.

Disney Dreamers are exposed to motivational speakers and celebrities who share their stories and provide insight on how to achieve success and DREAM BIG. Dreamers have the opportunity to cultivate relationships with other students from across the nation while they gain first-hand knowledge from Disney experts and world-renowned entrepreneurs and executives.

“We’re excited to welcome back Disney Dreamers Academy with Steve Harvey and ESSENCE for the ninth year,” said Tracey D. Applicants must answer essay questions about their personal stories and their dreams for the future. Students are selected based on a combination of attributes, including a strong character, positive attitude and determination to achieve their dreams.

Select Disney Dreamers along with a parent or guardian, will receive an all-expense-paid trip to Walt Disney World Resort in Florida, where they will participate in life-changing sessions as they are surrounded by the creativity and innovation represented in Disney theme parks around the world. Disney Dreamers Academy will take place March 3-6, 2016.

Steve Harvey, syndicated radio and television personality, along with ESSENCE and Walt Disney World Resort will host the selected Dreamers during their four-day power packed career and educational exploration. “One of my personal commitments is to always give back and particularly to youth,” said Harvey. “We’ve seen 800 students come through the program, and I’m excited to find the next 100. I encourage all high school students to take the time to apply for Disney Dreamers Academy because I truly believe that a young person’s dream is more important than anything.”

The biggest midnight opening celebration will take place at the company’s international flagship store in New York City, Toys”R”Us Times Square, where fans of all ages are encouraged to come dressed as their favorite Star Wars character and take part in dozens of one-of-a-kind activities designed especially for Star Wars aficionados.***

The World’s Greatest Toy Store is kicking the party off early with a special exhibition featuring prototypes, originals and early editions of some of the best-known Star Wars toys in the world, curated by Rancho Obi-Wan, Inc., a non-profit museum that houses the Guinness World Record-certified largest collection of Star Wars memorabilia. Presented prominently throughout the store, “Destination: Star Wars – The Experience,” will be on display from Wednesday, August 26 through Monday, September 7 and will feature dozens of notable collectibles based on all six feature films from the Star Wars Saga, including the original first four mail-away action figures from 1978, a large-sized Chewbacca figure in never publicly-released The Empire Strikes Back packaging from Kenner Products and a rare 2003 LEGO Star Wars Cloud City building set.****

The surprise took place at the New Amsterdam Theatre on July 23, 2015. Aladdin has been performing for guests on Broadway since February 26, 2014.

Stephanie Lubin, a medical student from Melville, Long Island, was surprised with two round trip Delta One™ tickets on Delta Air Lines between the US and Europe and Villas of Distinction gave away a complimentary three-night stay for up to 10 guests in a villa in Tuscany, Italy at the Casale I Bianchi – Toscana Resort Castelfalfi, “the elegance of simplicity, the comfort of luxury.”

Stephanie’s guest for the evening, high school sweetheart Kevin Sparaco, had suggested the two try the daily lottery for day-of Aladdin Broadway tickets. Stephanie won the couple a pair of tickets at the lotto, and as their tickets were scanned upon entering the theatre, ushers discovered that Stephanie was the show’s one millionth guest. Disney Store today announced the all-new collections and Limited Editions set to launch at this year’s D23 EXPO 2015, Disney’s ultimate fan event held at the Anaheim Convention Center August 14–16. Located within the Disney Consumer Products Pavilion at D23 EXPO, the Disney Store shop will feature new and exclusive products showcased throughout more than 3,000 sq. ft. of retail space. New items celebrating everyone’s favorite characters will be unveiled each day throughout the weekend.

In addition to offering attendees the chance to shop special products not yet available to the general public, fans will also have the chance to meet the artists and designers who created these exciting new collections and be treated to the official Disney Store opening ceremony on Friday, August 14. During the ceremony, a special attendee will be chosen to “unlock imagination” at 9 a.m. alongside some of Disney’s most famous characters.

D23 EXPO attendees will get a first look at collections making their debut at the event, including the next installment of the popular Disney Fairytale Designer Collection; a Limited Edition Doll Collection from ABC Studios’ television series Once Upon a Time; Toy Story 20th Anniversary; and Disney Tsum Tsum.

Highlights of the new collections include:

  • Disney Fairytale Designer Collection Happily ever after meets happily evil in Disney Store’s newest series of the Disney Fairytale Designer Collection being previewed at D23 EXPO. Featuring five sets of Limited Edition pairs, these collector doll sets were designed by Disney Store artists and carefully crafted to capture the beauty and romance of fairytale friends and foes.Available for the first time at D23 EXPO, guests can pre-purchase the complete set of five Hero/Villain pairs prior to the general public pre-sale beginning online Monday, September 14.Following the preview at D23 EXPO, the doll sets will be released and available for purchase in stores and online starting September 29, with a new pair released each week. Each set is limited to an edition of 6,000 globally and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity.

    This line expands into a collection of apparel, mugs, journals, home décor and more, available to the general public in stores and online on September 14.

  • Once Upon a Time – Continuing the ‘heroes and villains’ theme, Disney Store will introduce the Once Upon a Time Snow White and Evil Queen Doll Collection, available exclusively at D23 EXPO. Limited to an edition of 300, the doll collection, inspired by ABC Studios’ television series Once Upon a Time, brings to life the beauty, magic and charm of the iconic fairytale characters from the show.Exclusively for guests who purchase the doll set at D23 EXPO, Ginnifer Goodwin (Snow White) and Lana Parrilla (The Evil Queen) will be available for an autograph signing at the ABC booth on the D23 EXPO floor from 4 – 4:45 p.m. on Saturday, August 15. This special opportunity will be followed by the Once Upon a Time panel taking place in Stage 23 from 6 – 7 p.m.
  • Star Wars – Disney Store will launch an exclusive collection of Star Wars items at the EXPO on Friday, August 14. The collection will feature apparel, collectibles, and toys, including the Star Wars Elite Series, a new line of highly articulated and detailed die cast action figures, representing characters from Star Wars Episodes I-VI. The action figures will be sold individually at Disney Store locations beginning later this year; however, EXPO attendees have the opportunity to purchase the full set of Star Wars Elite Series action figures, which includes D23 EXPO-exclusive versions of R2-D2 and C-3PO.Additionally at the D23 EXPO, Disney Store will introduce Star Wars Legion Helmets, a series of eight vinyl collectible helmets inspired by the Star Wars Legion Helmet project launched in early 2014. Celebrating creativity and Star Wars, the project pulled together artists from across The Walt Disney Company, resulting in 300 stormtrooper helmets being transformed into diverse pieces of art, which inspired these collectible recreations – epic additions to every Empire.
  • Toy Story 20th Anniversary – In celebration of the 20th Anniversary of Disney∙Pixar’s Toy Story, Disney Store gleaned art from the adored film’s archives to illustrate the evolution of the beloved characters, Buzz and Woody. Featuring toys, collectibles, apparel and more, this collection will be released at the Disney Store shop at D23 EXPO on Friday, August 14.
  • Disney Tsum Tsum All-new collections of everyone’s favorite stackable plush will be unveiled at D23 EXPO, with one releasing each day in limited quantities in mini, medium and large sizes. In addition, limited-edition mini box series – exclusive to D23 EXPO – will be released along with each collection, and a Mickey Mouse Tsum Tsum mini vinyl figure will be available for $5 with any purchase, while supplies last.

Also launching at D23 EXPO is Disney Store’s “Disney 3D Print Studio,” which offers fans the chance to personalize figures, including Marvel’s Iron Man, with their likeness through the use of facial-scanning kiosks. The figures ordered at the event will feature packaging unique to D23 EXPO.

New this year, in an effort to minimize wait times for guests, D23 is introducing StorePass at select D23 EXPO shopping locations, including the Disney Store shop. A limited quantity of StorePass tickets will be available starting at 10 a.m. on Friday, August 14, and while they last, at the StorePass desk located adjacent to the StagePass distribution area in Hall A.
